Service job pricing and profit calculators

Quote with your actual costs, not a guessed market rate. SGL pricing tools help owner-operators estimate labor, materials, disposal or travel, overhead and target margin for service work. Start with an industry calculator and compare your costs before sending a customer quote.

Explore free calculators for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, landscaping, roofing, cleaning services, window cleaning and pressure washing.

How should I price a service job?

List direct crew hours and labor burden, parts or supplies, equipment or disposal, travel and allocated overhead. Estimate the total cost first. Then use your desired profit margin to set the price: price = estimated total cost ÷ (1 − target margin as a decimal). For example, $300 in costs at a 25% target margin implies a $400 quote before any applicable tax. Markup and profit margin are not the same. Verify every input and adjust for site conditions, scope and local rules.
